Got my B-day tomorrow and my SWMBO has got me a very special gift. The Balvenie Caribbean Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

This is a review for it.

This exciting new expression follows the acclaim of 2008's limited edition Balvenie 17 Year Old Rum Cask, and the subsequent popularity of rum cask-finished whiskies, with a whisky that bears all the hallmarks of the Balvenie, but with an added level of complexity that comes from finishing the whisky in casks that once held Caribbean rum. After a 14 year maturation period in traditional oak whisky casks, the Balvenie is then transferred to the rum casks, leading to an exceptional Single Malt that exemplifies the signature smooth, honeyed character of the Balvenie, while adding unique notes of toffee and fruit that come from its innovative cask finish.

I have had the 17 Year Rum Cask and it was great. Looking foward to tasting this one.

On a side note grilling some burgers tonight......tomorrow I will be making my Drunken NY Strips with Grilled Baby Gold Taters and fresh Green Been's and shallots.

I'll have a wee one please! I hope you have a grand and shining day.

You share a birthday with my wife. It has been a bittersweet day for the last 11 years. While we won't be drinking anything as fine as your single malt tomorrow, I will probably open a bottle of some the fine red wine they make out in CB's neighborhood and we will raise a toast to my wife on her birthday and to those who lost their lives on 9/11.

Love me Scotch! Glenfiddich is one of my favorites ;) would love to try that Scotch!

I had some 20 year on my last cruise that was just fantastic!
