Wife's away so I am having Beans!
« Reply #-1 on: June 24, 2015, 09:39:18 PM »
Jun 24 2015

The wife went to a church dinner tonight with her aunt; so I am having a bean fix! The second brat from Sandman’s would go great with them. It was a nice day today sunny with a slight breeze. I spent a lazy day spraying some weeds, and changed the sugar water in the hummer feeders.

I took the easy way out for my beans; a can of Bush’s Grillen Beans, southern pit style. I sautéed a medium chopped onion, some garlic and some chopped bell peppers, and deglazed with a little beer. I added some chopped leftover rib meat, the beans and a few shakes of Cholula hot sauce. I let them simmer about 25 minutes. I reheated the brat and toasted the bun on both sides.

I had mustard and creamy horseradish sauce on the brat. I got my bean fix and the brat was great; I washed it down with some good Brooklyn Lager Beer. I should have added some sour to the beans as they were pretty sweet. I am thinking now maybe I should have found out whether my wife liked beans before I popped the question!  ;)

Looks great Don!
And just because your wife doesn't like the taste of beans Don, doesn't mean she can't enjoy part 2 of bean night at Smokin Don's! ::)

Every now and again I do the same thing.  I like beans, my wife doesn't.  Beans are good for you.
