For our 49th anniversary we decided to go to Old City Prime, Lima, Ohio for our dinner. It is a steak house and their top of the line steak is a Greg Norman Australian Wagyu center cut rib eye at $72, next is a Kansas City bone in rib eye dry aged 35 days at $59 and then a Cowboy bone in rib eye wet aged 28 days at $57. Their lesser cost steaks are certified Black Angus and range from $31 to $44.
The restaurant has great atmosphere for a romantic evening. The menu has a wide variety of appetizers, salads, chicken and pork dishes and a lot of different fish. We started our meal off with some fried green tomatoes for an appetizer. The wife and I shared 4 fried green tomatoes topped with smokey chipotle sauce, parmesan slivers and had some olive pepper tapenade on the side. The sauce had a nice bit of heat and I liked the tapenade.
We both had house salads, they had a nice mix of greens, sliced red onions, tomato wedges and we had the warm bacon vinaigrette dressing and it was delicious. For an entrée my wife had a 7oz. Filet Mignon wrapped in bacon and some brocolinni for a side. I had a Delmonico rib eye, a lobster tail and red potatoes with a garlic cream sauce.
We both ordered med. rare and the wife said hers was delicious. Mine was cooked just right but the first half I ate was just a little tough but when I go to the other half it was like butter. Probably not the cooks fault but the particular steak. The lobster tail you could get broiled or steamed and I chose steamed, it was delicious! Their sides are large enough for two so you can mix and share.
My rib eye was about 12 oz. and was $39; my wife’s 7 oz. filet was $34. I had a Yeungling with the meal and the total cost was $108. They have a good lunch menu too I would like to go back for and would like to try some of the fish dishes. Their prime rib they only serve on Friday and Saturday.
I know most of you won’t want to search this out to eat at but if you ever find yourself in or going through Lima, Ohio, right on I75, you might want to check it out. If I was still into a little night life I would want to check out their 2nd floor lounge; they have live music on week-ends.
I was also checking out a new Canon Elph 160 camera. It’s not as good as my Olympus DSLR camera but takes pretty decent photos. It will be nice for my wife to use since in auto it selects the mode to shoot in whether macro close up, portrait or different lighting conditions like indoor or outdoor.
