Perfect Pressure Cooker Pot Roast
« Reply #-1 on: July 25, 2016, 12:09:14 AM »
Made a pot roast in my new PC from the recipe here...

http://allrecipes.com/recipe/66404/perfect-pressure-cooker-pot-roast/

Used some corn starch with the left over au jus to make a brown gravy. Very impressive to get fork tender chuck roast for just 45 minutes of cooking! The garlic mashed potatoes were the packaged kind but still good...

Looks great Mike!  In just under an hour you can have a complete meal with hardly any clean up. I am sold on pressure cooking.

Mike:  What is your view of the saltiness?  I see some comments from the recipe that it was very salty.

Wasn't salty to me but it depends on the dry packages of Ranch, Italian, and brown gravy mix you are using. I used the generic brands and found it was not over salty. I also added a little less of the dry mix than the recipe required because the packages are smaller.

So just control the sodium content by adding less dry mix I would advise.

I watched a few videos. Never knew how versatile they were. I never use my crock pot, but could see using this.

The Power Pressure XL is set up for canning.

Versatility??  Yesterday I browned a lb of ground beef in ours. Added a chorizo mix from Miners Mix. Added potatoes and egg and we had a heck of a breakfast. All without messing up the range and a bunch of skillets. All in the pressure cooker.

We did a chuck roast the other night. Ran the cooker 1 hour. Shredded it. Added a chili powder mixture to the water in the bottom of the PPXL. Left the top off and used the PPXL like a dutch oven. Made a little rue and 15 minutes later we had chili colorado.

I could go on and on.

I have the power pressure XL also...it is a slow cooker, canner and pressure cooker all in 1. Haven't used the slow cooker..I have way too many of them, or the canner, but I will soon..this puppy does it all.
I make a dozen eggs with a cup and half of water in 6 minutes. and they peel perfect every time. I put them in ice water till I can handle them.
I also make potato salad, peel about 1.5 lbs potatoes and add 6 eggs..1.5 cups water and 8 minutes and all is done at the same time, just add your other favorites.
My next try is creamy rice pudding with some  Bourbon..wish me luck.
