I ordered this rotating arm to hang my bird feeder in so my Arch enemy the squirrel can't get it. The screw functions as a set screw. But it absolutely will not screw in far enough to do it's job. I ordered it from Amazon.
The seller offered me 50% off if I can fix it.
I just think the hole needs to be just slightly larger. How can I do that without screwing up the threads?

What is a tap? I assume this is different than a drill bit.

Drop a BB down the hole, tighten and re-test.

 tap is used to cut the thread for a nut, or similar inside threaded object. A die is used to cut threads on the exterior of a round/cylindrical shaped object ( bolt, or pipe with male threads )

yes they sell them there and most hardware type stores

You could also grind a blunt point on the bolt end. It should then fit into the undersized hole on the tube. There are plenty of threads on the bolt. Good Luck! JPMcSR

Is there a hole in the pipe under the welded on nut?  I can't tell from the photos.  From your photos I can't tell if there is a hole in the pipe or not, but it clearly looks like the bolt is plenty long.  If there is no hole or it's too small of a hole a thread tap will not fix it.  You cannot drill the hole out from the nut size as you will end up drilling out the threads on the nut to make a hole big enough (if there is no hole or it's too small).  If there is a hole, but it's too small for the bolt to fit in, you could file a taper on the end of the bolt as there is plenty of thread left and the nut it is threading into is actually raised above the pipe body.

If there is no hold in the pipe, send it back via the Amazon return process.  Should not cost you postage either once you start that process online.

Thanks all. Went to Home Depot today and showed it to a guy. He brings me to where they sell the taps. And finds the size I need. He opens the package, threads it into the hole, grabs a wrench, and fixes my problem.

No charge. How's that for great service.  Amazon seller is going to credit me 50% of the price for my trouble.
