Brisket score at Kroger
« Reply #-1 on: May 26, 2018, 03:14:18 PM »
Kroger markets has Choice grade briskets on sale for 1.99 a lb.

So every guy wearing a cowboy hat was hanging over the display flipping them around trying to find good ones......The Smoke was into it  :)

Suddenly I notice one looked like it had different kryovac packaging....................

It was  ANGUS!!!!!!

didn't say anything and tossed four into my cart.................  all...............ANGUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The rest was all choice grade.

Wendy gave me the stink eye and said only two for The Smoke.

Wendy is not embracing the Texas life style like The Smoke is......................

So I hooked up two of the other cowboys with an ANGUS briskie.

I paid roughly 49 bucks for two large full packer briskets that are................................ANGUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GOD Bless Texas..........
Got Smoke?

I had a very different but equally interesting story about the $1.67 Kroger choice briskets.  I stopped at the little Kroger by home (where I know the butcher) early this morning looking for small packers.  I have plenty of mid to large briskets in deep freeze but am always on the lookout for something I can fit in the pellet pooper.  The smallest in the display was over 13 lbs, so I asked if he had any small ones.  He said he would open a new box and see what was in it.  He came back with two cryo wrapped "whole" briskets with no plug and essentially a 1/4" comp trimmed fat cap.  They were basically separated flats that got included in the packer box and priced the same.  6.04 lbs and 5.33 lbs.
