I had an opportunity to be a "juror" at the World BBQ Association competition in Germany several years ago... it was quite an event.

The plating (and food) was exquisite... more like gourmet food than BBQ.

What an incredible range of food and presentations! I imagine judging would be stressful.
You can't catch a fish if you don't get a line wet...
