Congrats on the new cooker Jack! Ribs look awesome! Your post has me "almost" convinced to visit
Lowe's and pick one up. My hesitation before was it didn't look like it was large enough grate wise for
a lot of food. Your photos tell me it can handle a full load. I don't worry about the temp gauge being off
since most of them are not accurate. I just go with my Maverick at grill level.

your gonna love that Akorn more and more. Keep it covered!! The grates will rust up faster than bare carbon steel in saltwater. And check the nuts and bolts that hols the lid on every once and awhile they will come use. Other than that it is a great cooker and very versatile. smoking, seering, pizzas, and slow cooking.

Jaxon,
Now that you have "mastered" the Akorn, what are you looking to buy next?

Y'all are too funny!!   :D :D :D

L A is the master chef of this story...he walked me thru the setup and advised me on on to adjust the vents, etc.  I would probably be eating "crispy critters" if he hadn't helped me.

I'll be experimenting with this unit for awhile, but the Weber is still my "go to grill" for wings and the Quantum for seared steaks.
B T W, that Quantum does a GREAT job on those split chicken breasts.  We especially like the extra large ones that are raise at the Dolly Parton Farms  8)

All seriousness aside, though, for my next cook (trick) I will attempt to cook a whole hog in the offset whilst cooking 36 wings in the Weber, 36 hamburgers and 8 ribeyes on the Quantum, with 8 split chickens in the Barrel cooker, 4 butts in the MES, 6 racks of ribs in the Akorn, and a partridge in a pear tree.

Just sayin'...
<><
You're at the top of the food chain...eat like it!
