Greetings All, I'm a Southern Californian born & raised and have been a gas griller [high 'n' fast] all my life. Recently I've become interested in true BBQ [low 'n' slow]. I've attended a couple of BBQ competitions and have been impressed with the tastes of products turned out by a range of competitors, and have seen the interesting techniques and equipment on PitMasters and similar TV shows. I'm looking to enter the BBQ world myself with a smoker/grill to be purchased in the near future. Right now I'm leaning toward a pellet burner unit, mid-sized for personal use. I've signed up for a BBQ class sponsored by the California BBQ Institute, but have not attended yet.
I found LTBBQ while searching for reviews of equipment and found it to be quite helpful.
My experience with gas grilling [right now I cook on a Sabre gas grill] may be more of a hinderance that a help in the new techniques [hardware and practice] I want to learn. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all and learning from you too.

Hey There Hub, I did go over and read both of your posts introducing pellet smoking -- wonderful, both of 'em. Many thanks for the advice and wisdom. Very plainly spoken, helpful, and thorough. I've been doing lots of reading, but still you mentioned several points I hadn't run across yet. I was particularly interested in your discussion of using multiple cookers -- I was planning on keeping my Sabre gas grill anyway, but now I see better how it will fit into various cooking "programs" [if I can use that word]. Thanks for the welcome and thanks for the helping hand. Much appreciated.
