Title: Turkey injection recipe
Post by: Smokin Don on November 12, 2014, 01:53:18 AM
I won't be doing a big Thanksgiving meal this year, we are going to the Son & Wife's. She is vegetarian so not sure what we are having!  ::) I got this recipe years ago and have used it on turkey breasts and pork loins and like it. Here it is for anyone that would like to try it. Don

Turkey marinade injection

This is an old recipe I have had for injecting a turkey for deep frying; I think I got it from a friend at work. I have never deep fried a turkey but I used the recipe for smoking some turkey breasts & thought it was extra good.

1 bottle of liquid onion
1 bottle of liquid garlic
2 TBS hot sauce
1 TBS kosher salt
1 TBS Zatarains liquid shrimp & crab boil
1 cup water

Mix all the above, bring to a boil & cook about 10 min. Let cool & use to inject a turkey. Season turkey with your favorite Cajun seasoning. Fry turkey in 350 deg oil 4 minutes per pound.

I used this for a pork loin, only used 1 tsp of salt & ½ tsp hot sauce. Really good.

Note: recipe said enough for two turkeys. The liquid onion & garlic I think are 1 fluid oz. bottles found in the spice department. If you can’t find the liquid onion & garlic use garlic paste & onion powder.

I am sure she will have some kind of meat, her Dad is a meat lover and will be there. I do get her to try some of my cooking once in a while, I think when she can't stand it any more! Don

Don.
Could this be the time for the "Tofu Turkey" to show up?  I hope not for your sake.

Don, I have the same problem with Debbie (just the two of us to eat what I cook)

"why do we always have to have a "test/experimental" cook.
why can't you just cook something that you do well, that I like"

we're going to the beach for Thanksgiving
I'm taking my fine mesh, expanded metal fish screen and using the charcoal grill that's at the beach house
and my surf rods ;)
we're only going to do seafood, some of it grilled (http://i50.tinypic.com/20ztyfl.gif)
