:) My Mini ;D was delivered today -first impressions:
Packaged well cardboard box was of low quality however the styrofoam packaging was super. Only damage that could occur would be deliberate. Came fully assembled just had to remove all the covering. Checked it out and powered it up and everything was working so I loaded up some pellets and fired it up! It took about 25min to come up to 400 degrees for the initial burn in. Outside temp was around 30 degrees. Held temp very very well maybe a 3 degree fluctuation. Waited about an hour and threw on 3 strips of bacon 1 on each end and one in the middle. The far end and the middle finished before the far right ( next to the inside probe ) was done. Did not see much smoke at 400 so I turned the temp down to 225 and out came the smoke! A lot heavier and consistent. ;D
All in all I am pleased and can't wait to cook a brisket flat tomorrow.

I think it is in this forums terms and conditions that ALL new cookers MUST include a picture of said cooker. ;)
-
Looking forward to seeing it

AND BACON! :D

All of us who have had experience with the RecTec they let us borrow for The Gathering love them. If the small one is anything like the bigun', and there ain't no reason it shouldn't be, you will love it. From everything I've heard it's the most frugal on pellets of them all. Dee

Unicorn horns are great for cutting the tape on boxes that new cookers come in... :P
-
I don't think he got it. cause if he did we would be looking at the great pictures. must be a unicorn pellet smoker. ;)

Great looking grill, thanks for the picture, I take back all comments about unicorns. ;)

Is the top of the pellet hopper stainless? NICE!
-
Yes the top of the pellet container is stainless and has a lock for transporting without losing pellets.
Here is a pic of the vents on the back side.

That is a nice looking grill! Just went to the Rec Tec site - awesome grill for the price. I have been looking at the full size, but this might be the right option. I look forward to hearing how it works for you.

I used the Texas brisket recipe on the Rec Tec website. It took a little longer than I thought probably due to the 30 degree weather but the brisket turn out great !! Beautiful smoke ring, tender and moist! My only regret is that I may have used a bit too much ground pepper in he rub - it was a little tangy- but if this is my only complaint this was a GREAT purchase. So far I have NO regrets and zero problems with the Mini. This fits perfectly with our lifestyle as its only my wife and i for the majority of our cooks.

very nice looking grill partner. how big is he cooking grate? I heard that the rec tec mini's will go to 600°.
-
I will have to measure and get back to u.

cool, cool. whenever you get a chance. no hurry.

I didn't know the Rec Tec website had a unicorn Texas brisket recipe!!! :P :P :P
-
I think the brisket recipe is a video, if it is not on their site, it should be on You-Tube.
My sister-in-law has a Rec Tec and for Xmas we got her all the Rec Tec rubs and sauces. Will report back on how she liked em.
Did you get any of their rubs when you got your mini bull??

The cooking grate measures 18" x 15"
-
That is a fine looking little grill....They are saying the grate is 22x15.5 which is 541 square inches....I know you measured it and that comes to 270 square inches. In a grill that small that's quite a bit of difference. I have been looking at that grill and I think it would be perfect for empty nesters. Keep the pictures coming. :D
