What can be more American than BBQ? This is disturbing.

Well that is dumb. Probably one person complained and they caved. Pretty sad if you ask me.

Interesting....last time I was there, Kansas City was still IN America.....seems the KCBS tour director would have thought of that..... ;)

They were originally told it was a city ordinance but the city said there was no ordinance and they had not asked anyone to take the flags down. The KCBS guy was fish tailing all over the road trying to explain why he asked them to do it.

This country needs to look back and see how far gone we have become. We can't even fight a war like America once did, afraid we might hurt someone. >:( >:( >:(
I would have told them where to place the flag pole and left the event and hoping others would leave as well. At some point folks we have to make a stand or we lose everything.

Well...let's not convict ALL of the KCBS. Clearly - this was one individual that was...... mis-guided. AND...let's not confuse the title: "BBQ Pitmasters" as that is also the name of a syndicated television production. :D
This happened at ONE event - that we know of. I will go out on a limb and say that it is not a policy of the KCBS.

This is all over all the forums and even Face Book today. Much ado about nothing, really. One instance involving one person's reaction and definitely nothing official from KCBS. It is easy to misunderstand and misconstrue and that's exactly what has happened. KCBS is one of the most patriotic organizations I belong to and this whole thing is getting stupid because of erratic press coverage and knee-jerking. Think. End of sermonette ::)

Hub, I am sure your are correct in what you say but the BAD press should be enough to find the person(s) responsible and pull there KCBS membership.
As an American, even the thought of NO FLAG at any event would make me never want to sign on or show up to another KBCS event. There are to many great Americans on this site alone to make me want to call KBCS and voice my opinion (it would not be pretty) >:(
The headline slaps every retired or active member in the face. So, if it does not reflect KBCS they better get on the ball and fix the issue

From all of us at KCBS, a family that surrounds the globe, we would like to simply say to the fine folks of Daphne that we apologize for ANY dishonor that our temporary decision and confusion on the sign ordinance caused during our competition. We assure each and every one of you that it will never happen again, in Daphne, nor ANY city in America.
If it does, it will only be because someone pries the flagpole from our BBQ-stained hands. :) :) :) :)
