howdy,
Just figured I would introduce myself, I've noticed most of the names are pretty familiar here so most of you will atleast know of me.. My name is Chris from Illinois, but I work in Afghanistan so unfortunately you won't see too many cooks from me until my vacations..... Been using a pellet smoker for about a year now, bought the Traeger BBQ300 Deluxe. I'm not too fond of her and plan to purchase her replacement in the coming couple of months. I've narrowed it down to the MAK 2 Star general and the Yoder YS-640.......
Thanks
Chris (SmokinSteiny)

Hey Chris! Great to have you! Which one of our members invited you? ( We grow thru invitation mostly - that how we are sure to just have all of the "good guys" here ;) ) BTW - I have the Yoder and so does Mossy MO... I love it. It is the Abrams of the pellet smokers/grills.
Contractor? Prior svc?

T,
Art (ACW3) Invited me... Yes I'm both prior svc and now contractor. I've talked to Mossy MO in great detail about his yoder and they seem great but man all the lil gadgets of the MAK are really drawing me in ya know. We'll see in October what I end up doing. I'll be home in November to break it in whichever I purchase.

They are both great choices. I live about 1:45 west of Art in Brevard NC. Look us up when you are stateside!

Hey Chris!
Welcome home ;)

Welcome from Minnesota. Thank you for your service.

You need to talk to nepas - he's got a MAK 2 star and a bunch of goodies for sale here (http://www.letstalkbbq.com/index.php?topic=1193.msg10920#msg10920) for a ridiculously low price. The savings would pay for your trip from Illinois to pick it up in Georgia.

Hard as it is to admit....the old surfin' reptile is correct! :D
I had forgotten that Rick has what may be the deal of the century in pellet cooking gear....SOmeone totaled up all the goodies he including and it came to around $3000.....I would contact him ASAP if you are looking for a deal!

One of the many burdens I bear (and one of the many reasons I move so "deliberately") is the inability of you lesser species to comfortably accept the natural superiority of we reptiles of the order Testudines. Get used to it and your life will be in much better balance. Or just drink more and ignore it; that always seems to work for me.

Thanks for the warm welcomes everyone! Much appreciated!!! I wish I was closer to NC, I'd hit up NEPAS in a heartbeat for what he's got on sale. But with the price of gas and my lil Scion XB, I don't think I could fit it in there or pay for the gas round trip think I'd be well over what I'd pay for the NEW 2012 model with all the bells and whistles included...... :'( I am going to be in NC next May to go to Camp Lejuene but I don't think TSA will let me carry on a smoker! lol ;D

Welcome to the nuthouse! Hope to learn from your cooks when you get back stateside.
Thank you for your service.

That was Cletus, a distant cousin (apparently trying to get even more distant). Cletus grew up in Georgia and then migrated to California when he was thrown into the bed of a westbound pickup truck and fell in love with the spare tire. He's had "issues" ever since, stemming from a combination of his "hold my beer and watch this" heritage and his acquired California strangeness. Plus he's a box turtle which, if you know anything about turtles, explains a lot.

Whew...glad you cleared that up.....sort of... ::) ;D
-
Chris, good to see you over here! It's another great forum full of friendly, informative and encouraging folks!
