Slam, bam, thank you maam, another writer seeks publicity by using half-truths and drawing sensational conclusions that may or may not have any validity. Meat prices go up and down mostly based on popularity of the cut, not the tenderness. Enhanced meats are not commonly used in contests. Myron Mixon's personality is contrived for television -- he's crusty but not nasty. Overall, the author is trying to appeal to conspiracy lovers by saying somebody is out to "control" barbeque. B.S. That dog won't hunt. Why? Nobody can keep a secret, the world isn't that well organized, and for every "conspiracy" there's another one springing up opposing it ::)

That one hit home. I got my start in BBQ cooking while teaching at local high school's PTA BBQ fundraiser. We cooked 9 tons of Boston Butts each year.
