Title: Weber kettles
Post by: sparky on August 15, 2015, 05:34:25 PM
Howdy y'all.  My 90's weber performer table top is cracking and the lid handle is rusting off.  I'm thinking of either a new weber performer (metal table and 90 degree lid pale) or a weber 26" kettle.  What do y'all think?

The 26" might be the most versatile of all the Weber Kettles.....

The 26 will give you plenty of room....

You could sleep in the 26 on nights you misbehave

I guess I would vote for the new Weber Performer Deluxe with the painted metal table if you can live with the capacity. While the 26" kettle is nice, there are not many options with this kettle as compared to the 22-1/2" Performer.

Really can't lose with either kettle but I sure do like the Performer series.

Yes and no.  They don't sell new kettle lids and a new table top cost around $85.  I got mr Biggs weber charcoal thingy and he told me to get some cast iron grates.  Since he cooks very well on his kettle I'm taking his advice.

22 in performer
You e got plenty of cookers to smoke on.
The performer is a better & easier to use grill.

I love my Performer with the Craycort cast iron grates. Here is the version for the 26" Weber... http://www.cast-iron-grate.com/grates-for-weber-charcoal-grills/26-75-kettle-grills.html

My oldest daughter came and got it while I was at work.  My wife said it was ok.  Bad wife.   :(

So I've been doing some pricing.

26" weber kettle ($300), Craycourts, handle and griddle ($178) = $478

New weber performer non gas assist ($350), Craycourts, handle and griddle ($132) = $482.

Not much difference in price between the two of them.

I like the Performer table as I really have nothing else on my deck as a substitute. If you won't miss the table I say go big.

Between you (previously) and Old Dave (now), I know my next purchase will be a 26".  When I do, I figure I'll relegate the 22" to the Sultan's Team Trailer - not enough room on the deck for both.

It's just a matter of time.

My vote would be 26" w/ Craycorts. I am sure you can find a table to make some work room...

I got a brand new lid I'll give you but would it be worth the cost of shipping?

The SnS works in a 26. You can use the table on your PKG. Or is PGK?

Thanks Tommy.  It would probably be cheaper for me to get one off Craigslist.
