Title: i'm happy to be here
Post by: sparky on October 15, 2012, 12:19:21 PM
ok, probably to much espresso but who cares.  i was just cruising the forum and am amazed at how many great ppl we have here.  alot of great bbq ppl who are full of knowledge.  what i like the most is that everyone cooks differently.  the benefit to me is i am learning a bunch of bbq stuff.  i'm a way better cook than i us to be.  i actually sell my bbq food.  i like that the ppl from the east coast cook differently that the ppl in the mid west compared to the ppl on the west coast.  different spices and different cuts of protein from all over.  alot of ppl cooking on alot of different pits.  that part is very cool.  i also like that no one is trying to sell me stuff.  its very mellow here.  just bbqing.  i just want to say thanks to T for creating a good forum.  i also want to thank art for inviting me here.   8)

Well said Sparky!

The more I come to this forum, the more I like it! There is always something interesting going on someone's grill or smoker.

My favorite forum. I really like the no sales pitch part and the quality of the people.

Oh one more thing. Some forums scare the sh#t out of me if I post something that breaks some rule of the forum. Never happened to me personally, but I have read the aftermath.  Ouch.

Ditto, Sometimes I have to alter a thread when I'm going to post it at the other forum.  ;)  I know others will do it also. This one is the first one I come to in the morning.

MY KIDS WILL ONLY EAT RIBS THAT ARE MADE WITH HONEY, BROWN SUGAR AND BUTTER THEN GLAZED WITH THEIR FAVORIE SAUCE MIXED WITH THE MENTIONED INGREDIENTS. Thanks to Mr. Sparky. Oh, and only when they come out of my pellet pooper.  :o 8)  They are 13 and 10 now.

I made a mistake posting something in the Humor thread a while ago here. I got the feeling from a couple of responses that I shouldn't have done that post. I killed the posting. Made a public apology where the post used to be and all has been forgotten/forgiven. Just shows the quality of the people we got here.  :)

I like it, I only belong to a couple of forums and luckily both of them are very good. One is vendor related but not pushy at all. I have visited several other forums and they do tend to bash each other on some of them. I belong to several cooking groups on the Yahoo groups format but rarely visit them anymore.

THANK YOU is not enough....

But it is because of YOU - OUR FORUM MEMBERS that everything we have done - and will do - is possible.

And...frankly, just reading this thread makes it ALL worthwhile ;D

I set out to create not just a "forum" - but the real feeling of a neighborhood on the web, where everyone regardless of what they cook on - or what brands of seasoning/sauces they use - is WELCOME. A place where no one has to feel any concern about starting  a thread or posting a reply for fear of "breaking a rule" ( Hey - we do this for FUN...too many rules = NO FUN - right?) or maybe that ONE guy would make you feel stupid - about something in your thread or comments. ( Flatly - I am proud to say we don't have anyone here that has ever done this on LTBBQ - and I really want to keep our hang-out that friendly. :) )

My job is easy....do a little dusting and cleaning, and stay the heck out of the way - and maybe even post a cook when I can, offer advice if I have any when it is asked for, and always defer to YOU guys as the real reason that we even have LTBBQ, and the amount of experience here is vast.....I am extremely happy with how many really well experienced folks have joined us and become key contributors.

So, to Sparky - as the OP - and to all of you that have and will comment on this thread the thanks is really to YOU.
Keep the grate hot!
