Title: Pork chops with Applesauce, twice baked taters, and salad
Post by: muebe on January 11, 2016, 08:20:37 AM
I decided to post this cook in the "Stick Burner" section because the Cook Air does not really fit any other category. It only burns wood to cook with so I thought here would be appropriate. Management feel free to relocate this post if you feel it belongs in a different category...

I started with a couple chops...

Used this for the twice baked potatoes. This stuff is so good...

Pre cooked the taters. Gutted and mixed the innerds with the cheese butter. Put it back in then seasoned and shredded cheese on top...

Starting the Cook Air with a stick of Applewood coated with a little lighter fluid. Set to level one for 30 seconds...

Then bumped up to level three for 30 seconds...

(http://i752.photobucket.com/albums/xx169/muebe/Album%202/20160110_180812_zpsseaqfur7.jpg) (http://s752.photobucket.com/user/muebe/media/Album%202/20160110_180812_zpsseaqfur7.jpg.html)

Grill was up to cooking temp in less than five minutes. Now that is microwave quick...

(http://i752.photobucket.com/albums/xx169/muebe/Album%202/20160110_180908_zpsq3myursg.jpg) (http://s752.photobucket.com/user/muebe/media/Album%202/20160110_180908_zpsq3myursg.jpg.html)

On they go...

(http://i752.photobucket.com/albums/xx169/muebe/Album%202/20160110_181534_zpsjjd66zmi.jpg) (http://s752.photobucket.com/user/muebe/media/Album%202/20160110_181534_zpsjjd66zmi.jpg.html)

Around four minutes later...

(http://i752.photobucket.com/albums/xx169/muebe/Album%202/20160110_182449_zps70ktvz1p.jpg) (http://s752.photobucket.com/user/muebe/media/Album%202/20160110_182449_zps70ktvz1p.jpg.html)

(http://i752.photobucket.com/albums/xx169/muebe/Album%202/20160110_182649_zpslbtmji1w.jpg) (http://s752.photobucket.com/user/muebe/media/Album%202/20160110_182649_zpslbtmji1w.jpg.html)

Lifted up the grill to add more wood. I found that using the provided tool was easier than I thought. Pretty easy to lift it up and add a chunk of wood or two.

On went the taters to finish them...

(http://i752.photobucket.com/albums/xx169/muebe/Album%202/20160110_182732_zpsoj4rqayo.jpg) (http://s752.photobucket.com/user/muebe/media/Album%202/20160110_182732_zpsoj4rqayo.jpg.html)

I put the lid on with it cracked to finish the taters for two minutes...

Plated with Caesar Salad...

This is my second cook with the Cook Air grill. So far I am very impressed with the speed it starts, the high temperatures it can achieve, and the flavor that meat get's when cooking on it. Much easier than waiting 20 minutes for coals to get hot and I only used a few chunks of wood for the whole cook. The chops had a great sear and wood smoke flavor. The taters got a little smokey flavor too. That was a great meal.

What a great looking dinner, Mike! The coker is cool, but you continue to prove you could make good grub on a hot rock!

Looks really good Mike.   That stove is based on a rocket stove isn't?  Sure looks like fun to cook on
