Title: Johnsonville Brats
Post by: muebe on January 19, 2016, 12:23:57 AM
Started with these...

(http://i752.photobucket.com/albums/xx169/muebe/Album%202/20160118_164139_zpsry7andog.jpg) (http://s752.photobucket.com/user/muebe/media/Album%202/20160118_164139_zpsry7andog.jpg.html)

Then a pot filled with one large onion, 36 ounces of beer, some Tajin and garlic salt..

(http://i752.photobucket.com/albums/xx169/muebe/Album%202/20160118_162331_zpsdrmaowso.jpg) (http://s752.photobucket.com/user/muebe/media/Album%202/20160118_162331_zpsdrmaowso.jpg.html)

Bring to a boil...

(http://i752.photobucket.com/albums/xx169/muebe/Album%202/20160118_165744_zpszzbmqhmw.jpg) (http://s752.photobucket.com/user/muebe/media/Album%202/20160118_165744_zpszzbmqhmw.jpg.html)

Drop the brats in, cover and cut the heat to lowest flame for 10 minutes. You don't want to boil them and cook out the fat. Only slightly cooked so they get the beer and onion flavor. You will finish on the grill...

(http://i752.photobucket.com/albums/xx169/muebe/Album%202/20160118_165851_zpseoynsnwb.jpg) (http://s752.photobucket.com/user/muebe/media/Album%202/20160118_165851_zpseoynsnwb.jpg.html)

Then I got the buns ready. Some cheese butter on the inside of them...

(http://i752.photobucket.com/albums/xx169/muebe/Album%202/20160118_170103_zpsflitl1ja.jpg) (http://s752.photobucket.com/user/muebe/media/Album%202/20160118_170103_zpsflitl1ja.jpg.html)

(http://i752.photobucket.com/albums/xx169/muebe/Album%202/20160118_170625_zps080gkgv6.jpg) (http://s752.photobucket.com/user/muebe/media/Album%202/20160118_170625_zps080gkgv6.jpg.html)

After removing the brats from the beer the onions were removed from the liquid and put in a hot cast iron skillet with liquid gold to finish cooking...

The brats are ready for the Air-Grill with a couple serranos in tow...

Nice looking brats Mikey! And great plate of food too! ;) I'll have one with dbl mustard and a pep please!
As some know, I'm opposed to the boiling of any meat but given the high-heat output of your grill I understand the drowning of sausages here! :D
Not trying to start an argument,  just oppose the mistreatment of meat! :D

Great! Not trying to be pushy about this but I'd prefer drinking my beer as opposed to giving it to underage sausages! :D

I like Johnsonville Brats, but do not like the high sodium content.  They are not unlike most of the other commercial sausages and meats that you see in supermarkets; all use a lot of salt.  I try to limit my sodium intake, so make my own brats and sausage so I can control the amount salt that I use.  Only wish Johnsonville did not have so much, so I could make my job easier.
