Title: RIP Keith Emerson what a bad year for rock stars
Post by: Tailgating is my game on March 13, 2016, 10:43:50 AM
I love progressive rock & got to see him once with ELP. It was a great night by a very talented group. That was many years ago!

It just shows again how depression & the body breaking down can attack any age, income or nationality. I think we are just starting as a society to see that now. This is a real disease that can hit anyone at any age. I have seen it in my family & it is so difficult to deal with. We all go sometime but suicide is so tragic & such a waste. He had everything most of us would have wanted but at the end he had nothing as far as he must have thought. Same with Robin Williams & so many others.

We really need to understand & help anyone that suffers from this.

Sorry about the gloom of this post but I think I can in some small way understand how he felt by seeing others suffer from this.

God Bless you all & have great days ahead!

It is hard to lose someone you care about.

It is hardest when that person is lost to their own hand in suicide. I think the impact of it is why we feel anger toward that person as much as the sadness of the loss.

Perhaps our best opportunity in life may be to contribute in a way we had not considered: To be strong in the face of insurmountable odds, for those watching us. Our friends, family - especially younger folks - need to know that our fears should never be greater than our hope. That our faith is insurmountable by our afflictions. And, that - we all share in the common truth about life. No one gets out alive.

We do not get to choose what health issues befall us at the end of our time here. But - we can choose to not compound the impact of our being lost to our loved ones in death.

This is clearly my opinion, and my feelings as expressed from having lost of some very close friends in the manner of suicide. I mean no offense to anyone that may view this topic differently.

I think that the reason most all of us just don't understand suicide, is that the reason (s) given by those who have contemplated, or worse, committed suicide are perceived as hopeless, and insurmountable. Whereas loved ones, friends etc. see hope. Depression clouds vision, most definitely!

The first date I took my future wife on, was to see ELP in concert back in the 70's.  It was an awesome concert!

Perfectly stated Tim!

I think it is hard for them when they have been at the top and then they are no longer in the spotlight.  I have been deep down in that hole of grief, loss, depression and pain. Like the song says, when you hit rock bottom you have two ways to go, straight up or sideways.  You give up or claw yourself out of that hole... Plus, professional help is the best way to help you.  Just $0.02 worth.

And, sadly, it's only going to increase in frequency.

I saw ELP at the August Jam in Charlotte Motor Speedway.  They were awesome and he even did the flying piano trick ! ! !

Phil Collins went through a tough few years but had his first concert in five years the other night. His family & Genesis band mates helped him along the way.

I am closing in on 100 concerts from that group & their solo tours.

more bad new is that Brian Johnson the AC/DC singer has to step down due to going deaf if he continues to perform. AC/DC is looking for a replacement singer to cover 10 shows....................

Phil had something along those lines but can't you filter it down nowadays. I guess in his case you can't too bad.

Sadly, The Eagles bailed on us.  But it was still a great show.
