Title: Jerky Strips
Post by: nepas on August 22, 2016, 04:26:45 PM
Got 5lbs going into the Owens BBQ Hickory jerky marinade. I added a little course black pepper, worcy and soy sauce. Add the cure every time even if dehydrating.

Going to toss the strips around in the marinade in bout 8 hrs and again in the morning. Fridge now.

Nice! I've made jerky twice now and you really can't beat it over the store stuff. What cut of meat are you using? I've used bottom round and eye of round. I think I like the eye better.

I always use London Broil or if i have game meat i use that.

Marinated some LB strips yesterday morning in some OBBQ Hickory jerky marinade. Today they went into the dehydrator at 150*

Whew...the jerky looks good...but I saw the thread title and was afraid. My wifey often refers to me as "Jerky" - and I thought you might have found some old pictures of me trying to make money for school.... ??? ::) 8) :D

I do the same. I put in a brown bag in the fridge for 24 hours before eating. I think i learned that from you, at least I know i learned it on here. Nice looking jerky BTW

I find my beef jerky comes out best when I use eye round roast and it's easy to get nice uniform pieces with that cut also. Had a good sale here recently, choice eye round roasts with little to no fat for 2.97/lb. I bought all I had freezer space for. I also use eye round exclusively for dried beef.
