Title: Anybody use Pit Boss pellets
Post by: Hub0000 on February 09, 2017, 10:03:22 AM
If anybody uses Pit Boss competition blend pellets the link below will allow you to search the Walmarts near you and shows you their inventory on hand and the price. Sometimes different Walmarts have different pricing and it will show that. Just enter the zip code and hit search.

http://brickseek.com/walmart-inventory-checker/?sku=40583459

Here is a screen shot of a search in my area

You can also search for other items by doing a sku search.  Just enter what it is you want in the sku search and then select it and it will fill in the sku for you. Enter your zip code and hit search

This screen shot shows where I did a search for the Pit Boss 7000fb pellet grill. You can see one Walmart has them cheaper than the others.

I have for the past 6 months. Thanks for that link. We have a Walmart just down the street with a skid for 19.76 for 40# bags. I recently discovered a True Value that carries all the GMG pellets.

Our Walmart had a big discount sale so pick up one 40 pound bag of Hickory and two 20 pounds bags of competition mix.
Have not tried the competition but the Hickory produce very little smoke in comparison to Cooking Pellets or Lumber Jack.
Also very little smoke taste in Ribs with no noticeable smoke ring.

The above is in my modified Blaz'n Grid Iron and others could have different results.

When I bought pellets the online price was $3 cheaper so I made them give me that price.  You can also order different pellets online and pick them up from the store with free shipping. You can try and find different pellets with that link by changing the sku. The Walmarts around me only seem to carry Pit Boss competition blend pellets.  Thanks for the tip I'm going to check some True Values.

The Walmart by us also carries B&B and Jack Daniels pellets. I do like the comp pellets but GMG are my favorites...........

I might check onsite.  There are a bunch local at that price according to the link, but the onsite listing is still for the retail price.

The competition blend is the only pellets I have tried so far. I went in to the Rural King store by me today and they had Traeger and Lumber Jack pellets.

I picked up a bag of the Lumber Jack 100% pecan and the Lumber Jack apple blend.  I would have rather got their 100% apple but they only had the blend which is blended with oak.

Being from Maryland,  pecan was something not really available there and I've never smoked with pecan before so I wanted to try that. The Traeger pellets were $14 and the Lumber Jack $9.99 for 20# bags

Traeger pellets are alder based. Lumberjack and GMG and Pit Boss are oak based. Get a hotter burn and less consumption.

That is a good store price for Lumber Jack which have not found in the Savannah, GA area.
