Title: air fried bloomin onion
Post by: Pam Gould on February 17, 2017, 06:30:42 PM
I made a blooming onion today..I cut the top off onion and peeled the outside..the turned it over and cut 8 wedges in it, leaving the bottom intact..then put in cold water for a couple of hours.
Then I made a dredge for it with Panko crumbs that I zapped for a few seconds in the magic bullet, I tried it with regular panko and it did not work out for me...too crunchy..so I added a lil flour and some chili powder, cayenne papper and some chili powder with a lil oregano and basil, s&p.
Next was the dipping sauce..I started w ith a lil mayo, glob o' ketchup and chili powder, cayenne and paprika, garlic powder, s&p and it wasn't great..bummer so I added some horseradish and a pinch of sugar..that did it. Next time I will make sauce earlier and let it sit.
Cooked onion on 370º for 11 minutes..checked it at 5  minutes and I forgot to spritz it with a lil oil, so I did that and it came out real tasty.
This is my 2nd attempt so I will keep improving it..definately very edible.
Did I mention that house smell fabulous?   .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.
I cut the center out of the onion with an apple corer thingi. Not quite reastaurant quality but very good.   .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.

Well Pam that is for a Generic Old Fashioned Cocktail, just saying. :)

I had trouble making this the regular way much less in the airfryer  but I think you found the key.
Panko in the Majic Bullet and a little flour.
Going to give this a try, thanks as I need to cut out deep frying also.
