Friend of mine who lives on the other side of the mountain of lava said its a good time for a BBQ. He said get some looooong metal poles, get some chicken & BBQ sauce, some beer.... Lava moves very slowly, but it’s kinda hot...

Very interesting!

I remember seeing a show with a Scandinavian guy who did a cook near a volcanic crater using heat from the earth.

The same year Japan suffered that horrific earthquake my wife and I where on the big island at the time. The day before the quake I took a helicopter charter to fly around that volcano. Yes that stuff does tend to move slow but get it on a slope and it can move dang fast. The volcano was having some digestion problems at the time and burping up some red stuff at a near by fissure. A sight I will never forget seeing molten rock shoot up into the air according to our pilot over 100'. I can assure you at the time BBQing a chicken did not come to mind.  ;)

That will get your attention I will bet!...The scene you described makes me want to reach for a Tums.....and a fireman's outfit. ;) ;D
