Title: Oakridge BBQ Competition Tri-Tip
Post by: muebe on January 08, 2012, 11:22:10 PM
I had rubbed a Tri-Tip with Oakridge BBQ Competition Rub that I got from their sampler pack. It was then vac sealed and frozen. I pulled it out of deep freeze this morning for dinner...

I cooked it on the Traeger with the PID set to 210F grill temp until it reached a IT of 135F. Then I set the PID to 400F grill temp for the last 10 minutes to finish...

That rub is just plain fantastic! It is awesome on Tri-Tip and I now know why they call it a competition rub. Can't wait to try all the other rubs in the sampler. All of them have been great so far :)

Looks great!

I went to Pulix today and ask the butcher if they had tri-tips, he said no but we'll cut one for you give us 2 hrs notice and 7.69 a lb!    ???     I think that's a little high so I'll give it sometime to roll around in my brain cells

That's highway robbery!   Considering they grind them up and sell as "ground sirloin" for 1/2 that..

I found a butcher in Paducah, KY that carries CAB tri-tips, so 3 of us went in on an entire case..
