I saw that Weber now sells a grill which has a built in ring where you put the LP tank which weighs your tank as you go so that you always have a weight to check to see if you are going to have to replace the tank or not. I have seen these sold separately in a number of places. I have a Char Broil 2 burner Tru Infra Red and it has about 2.5+" clearance between the top of the LP gas canister and the top of the inside cabinet. Does anyone know of a good separate scale which I could put inside my grill so I can have the same convenience of knowing how much gas I have left? Thanks. I really don't want to haul out the tank, weigh it, and then put it back when I think I am low...I am much more inclined to let it run out and then change tanks (always keep a spare).
It pays to be paranoid. ???

Some of the scales used to measure freon tanks are pretty thin. Try googling freon weigh scales.

Why not just get a tank that you can see the level of the propane...

I have one and they are great!

I have a couple of these - for my SRG and my Backstone Flat Top - they are great! A little pricey to start but well worth it in my mind.

Those are super! Never seen them. But yes VERY pricey! But still cheaper than a scale!

Just always keep a spare tank filled.

I keep 3 tanks on hand. I scored two free so........;)

Have you thought about one of these.....

I've used these before and found it to be very handy........might be your cheapest option.

I had a gage but it never quite registered accurately. Alas, if it had worked, it would have been about perfect. I would love to get two of the lite tanks but getting them refilled might be a problem. I looked up the places which were suggested as refillers and they are all across town. Argggh. Perhaps I could actually find someone on this side of town if I look a bit harder. Are they really simpler to get refilled than they would lead you to believe?

The lite cylinders are as simple to get filled as any other LP tank. When I took it to get it filled the guy gave me a look because he had never seen one before. But after looking it over for a moment he realized it was a legit tank and filled it up.
I only use mine for when I go camping but they are much lighter and you can actually see the liquid propane level.

I'm with muebe here..I have one of the lite tanks and they are great..no guessing ever. A bit $$$$$y tho, but worth it for me as I'm getting older now. Pam .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ

I have always used the weight method. if its heavy it has fuel. if its lite its close to empty. you could always use your bathroom scale also.

I keep a couple of tanks on hand and use the grillgauge.
