Boy, does that bring back some memories! My first grill when I was stationed in Hawaii in the early 70's. Food always tasted great off that grill. I think I gave it to a neighbor when I left.

Although mine died just before we moved to the new house (3 years ago), almost every household in Hawaii has at least one hibachi in the garage. Luckily my neighbor has several so I can borrow one whenever we go to the beach.

;D That was my grill when I lived in Hawaii back in the mid-70's. Used it almost every day. I picked up a Lodge Sportsman a few years ago - still enjoy the simplicity.

I could make a burger and dog on that. ;)

That thing was built to last!

My hibachi was a wedding gift in 1968. From it I learned that you can't grill in the house (tried to use it on the stovetop with the vent on -- idiotic idea in more ways than one). Somebody stole it. Don't own one currently, but for basic charcoal grilling of small critter chunks, they're hard to beat.

I considered that one before buying the Lodge. I went with the Lodge mostly because I've never had any trouble with any Lodge cast iron pans, pots, dutch ovens, etc. Not saying this one would have any problems - might be great - just that I know Lodge and felt comfortable with the brand.
