I've spent a few bucks on grills over the years, and Old Smokey was the cheapest grill that I have been able to manage some seriously good cooks with charcoal. Small investment for anyone to try with prior charcoal failures like me.

Rick, I've gotten to where I don't want to cook on any of my other cookers
and don't forget
with a couple of wide bricks
you can raise the fire pan close enough to the grill to sear

I do not want to hijack this thread, but your comment made me think... ::)
At various times, I have "fallen in love" with a particular cooker. It's interesting to me why this happens, how long it lasts, and why I change allegiance...

Nicely done
I am going to follow more of the Old Smokey topics now that I am becoming more interested.
Waiting for a high temp Roast Chicken :).
