Several people have lost pets, recently , and we always question ourselves do we get another.
When Ellie the wonder dog passed at 15 I wasn't sure I'd get another.( my hunting camp buddy kristened her because he wondered how,a,dog could train her owner so well ::))
Well my wife solved my delimma , she surprised me with a,puppy for my birthday about a year later.
I'm so glad she did ;D, Lucy has become my best friend!

My neighbors dog died during surgery (this all took place about 12 years ago) when she got the call the nurse also mentioned they had a terrior mix that was found in a dumpster that needed a good home. Betty said she didn't want another dog...ever.
i went down to the vets after work and took the dog home to Betty. They have been inseparable ever since. :)
Oh, and his name is Buddy.......how fitting.
Can you imagine never getting Lucy, LA??

That is great!
Lucy is a beautiful pup! And now, a member of your family!

LA, so sorry you lost your Ellie. The closer they are, the harder it is to get over. But you know, we wouldn't have it any other way.
They truly are our children. I'm glad you have a new buddy! Great looking dog. As far as do we or don't we get another dog? It takes a while for the pain to subside, but sometimes the new dog is the one who makes that decision. Thanks for sharing.

I remember those as well LA.
I know it hit y'all hard to lose such a fine dog but then you found Lucy .
When I had to put Charger down ( a 12 year old Chihuahua) I never wanted another dog but then Kimmie found Mollee and life is good again ;)

I said the same thing. Wasn't sure that I wanted another after losing the first two less than a year apart but we ended up with Lottie. She has been great. Now my 15 year old ridgeback is very ill and won't be around much longer. That makes three years in a row less than a year apart.
Maybe when I get the 2 I have under better control I will consider another.
Right now all I am doing is trying to make the ridgeback comfortable.
