Well the long suffering has endured 11 years of wedded bliss to yours truly. Figured She deserved a great meal....felt like I owed it to her ???
Just a shot of my meal. The Demi glacé reduction should be illegal ;)

I have heard about this dish before but have never had it. Has anyone out there fixed it? What exactly is it? Dee

Dee, it's a braised veal shank.

This particular version was a pork shank. Crazy tender. AND REMEMBER.....WE WENT OUT

Got to talk with my son in law about this . He's an executive chef and a great Italian cook. Dee

Happy anniversary!! Looks like a great meal! I gotta google that and see if its something I could make.

Here is a link to a pork Osso Bucco recipe that I have tried and it is good. The hardest part was finding good pork shanks, which were not available at most supermarkets.

Veal or Pork?
Looking forward to seeing the Lobsterman treatment of this!

The red wine Demi glacé is the star.....make that too
-
Veal, just called him back to order about 5 lbs of beef stock bones and ordered the veal demi glace from amazon should be here wed. Now some really good red wine. Any suggestions from the group!
-
Happy Anniversary Pappy, the meal looks fantastic.
-
Happy anniversary and that Osso Bucco looks fantastic. I’m with cookiecdcmk, hard to find pork shanks around here.
-
Just to be clear......we went out to eat ???
Wish I could make this ;)
@pappy- you could make this dish at home, trust me. Osso Buco is quite simple and could be done on a grill- just takes a bit of time, some good red wine and maybe a dutch oven. The rissotto is a bit more involved with technique but still not brain surgery. That dish is all about patience! Thanks for sharing the mouth watering pic
-
Wow! That looks fantastic.

Here (http://www.cookingforengineers.com/recipe/200/Osso-Buco/print) is a good osso buco "primer" recipe that I use and adjust according to whim with a few photos here (http://forum.bradleysmoker.com/index.php?topic=23766.msg285096#msg285096). I generally use beef shanks (easily available, cheaper, and more flavorful than veal) but you can use what you have around.
