Title: Had an owl stalking Mollee
Post by: TMB on August 16, 2013, 11:35:22 AM
While camping this week we were told to keep an eye on Mollee (see my avatar) because there were a lot of owls up where we were.

The owls were all over the place and were neat to see but when one of them hung around and would flw close to where she was I didn't take kindly to that.   It even went so far as to get within 10 yards of the camper and watched her while she was behind the screen door!

I got a picture of the owl while it was sitting about 20 yards away in a tree.

Here is a picture of the owl that was stalking her.  Not sure what the law is but if it was up to me that sucker would be in the SRG!!!!!

Owls are cool birds.  The new house Has a resident bald eagle.  Scared for the cats.

I live in one of the most populated areas in Alabama but on the edge of Little Shades Creek where it flows into the Cahaba River. We have many hawks year round and last year we had two golden eagles who stayed in the area all summer and at one time we had five goldens flying overhead. My wife has seen a couple of bald eagles in the area but I haven't seen them yet. I was sitting in front of the big bay window at the kitchen table and a big red hawk slammed into the glass right at the level of my head and nearly broke the window. I guess he thought my bald head would make a good meal. We have had several cats go missing in the neighborhood. Could be the birds or the coyotes we have around.

Never seen a golden eagle.  Bald everywhere.   Almost shot one last year duck hunting.  Had a scaup flying directly over my head.  Gun on it and as it passed I pulled a trigger and there was the eagle back peddling.  Missed it by 5 feet.  Got lucky there.  Darn scrap got away also.

Put up a scare crow or decoys of crows. I understand that owls for some reason do not like crows.

Well he (or her) showed up all week long  >:( and kept us busy watching him/her till Mollee did her business.

Here are three pictures of the rascal all were within 20 to 25 yards!

Yes, Mollee is safe! ;)

it's easy to get good wildlife pics with "bait"  ???
LOL  >:(   Mollee ain't bait  ;)

Really even after we put her in the camper the owl still stayed within yards for a long time.
Here is just one of many that I took where is was sitting within 25 yards or less.

At one point he came within 15 feet (no bull) 15 feet of Kimmie and myself. He sat there for a minute or so then took off
