Tipping the scale at 500 pounds. Getting the casters on should be a hoot. :o
-
That's pretty. To clean but pretty.
-
Very nice. How many racks can you fit in there?
-
Can't wait to see you start to break this think in.
-
Ours won't stay clean for long. Says it will hold 30 racks of back ribs. I'm thinking 24. ;)
-
WOW! Can't wait to see some action shots!
-
That should handle your rib cooking needs!
-
Nice!
Isn't there a blues and BBQ fest in Arthur coming up? You guys going to be there?

There is one in downtown Springfield, starting tonight. And a big competition up in Lincoln.
Nope, we're staying put at our shop, and having our own BBQ fest!

Is this smoker similar to a Stump smoker??

Is this smoker similar to a Stump smoker??
It's not gravity fed like a Stump. Just a regular firebox below a heat diverted and water pan. Heavily insulated, though!
Hal also has a Backwoods Chubby. The 'mini me' version of this one. I'll get a family portrait of them next weekend.. :D
-
Looking forward to seeing this one in action!
-
Looks great!! Can't wait to see your break-in.

We've cooked on Backwoods smokers before, so we are comfortable with them. The construction & insulation is top notch.
There is a dealer just an hour away in St Louis, but this one had to be built & shipped up from the factory in Dixie, Louisiana.
-
how much burn time do you get w/ that fire box squirt?
-
Congrats, very nice set up!
Friend of mine has the Backwoods Party and love it... I keep looking at them and thinking about getting one.

They claim 8-10 hours. We'll be burning lump, so it might need some small scoops of fuel every few hours, so the temps don't spike on us. We'll find out next weekend!
That's how I 'feed' the Meat Monster now. We use the smaller firebox, and just goose it with a few shakes of lump every now and then.

Hal's got it uncrated, and I'm going to stop by there in a bit to help get the casters bolted on.

home at last, home at last. Glad to see it where it belongs. Now lets cook!!

That is a beauty 8)
-
Yes that is a beautiful site!
-
Nice smoker Pat, will it be mounted in the trailer some how?
-
Looks like my first Backwoods Competitor...along with the wheels, I had an I-bolt installed in the top of the cooker so I could load it with my front end loader. I also had the removable water pan installed in my cooker so I could do my high temp direct cooks and also my high temp grilling. Was a wonderful cooker and I used it for about 4 years and sold it to a good friend. He has had it for about 6-7 more years and it still looks great. Your gonna love that cooker.
