I saw a piece on this guy on Bizarre Foods.  Very cool what he is doing.

I'll take 2 cases of butts and 3 cases of back ribs, please!

If he sells butts for $0.69/lb, then it will be the perfect pig.  :D

It's been many, many years since I've tasted real pork (not the stuff I have to buy at the grocery store)  :(    Sure would like to get ahold of some of that!

I need two butts, two tenderloins, couple slabs o' spares and leave me alone for a few hours with a couple of cookers.

I wonder if you can order his pork somewhere? Would love to try some.

Found his website; can't buy meat >:(. Wonder is the neighbors would mind if I took a little road trip to Iowa and brought home a few to raise in the backyard!!! I also liked his page on Facebook and will have to go back and check it out some more.

I have been lucky enough to find sources for Alabama pasture raised Duroc and Berkshire pork, both older heritage breeds. There is no comparison in the juiciness and taste of that pork and confinement raised commercial pork. It is more expensive but well worth it in my opinion. Plus I am willing to pay more to support local farmers. I can even find pastured raise Duroc at a local Piggly Wiggly sometimes and it not that much more expensive than regular pork.

Ken,
I agree w/ you about supporting local farmers. On the other hand, when there are none... do you have links for buying the heritage breeds you mentioned?
