Title: Pilgrimage to MAK Grills
Post by: smoker pete on November 04, 2013, 11:31:30 PM
Drove up from Grants Pass to Salem Oregon ... only 19 miles from MAK Grills in Dallas Oregon!  Have an appointment tomorrow afternoon for a tour of their manufacturing facility with MAK Daddy himself  ;D ... Photos to follow if I'm allowed to take some shots  :)  Have owned my MAK 2 Star for years and I can't wait to pay homage to the craftsmen that built my unit.

By all means - let them know how much we appreciate them as sponsors on LTBBQ.  Matt has assured me that they will start having a regular presence here.

Will do Tee ... Have met Matt a couple of times before and he's a great young man.  Hope he's around cause I'd love to say hello again.

Enjoy.

We went there this past summer. The four-star in person is an impressive beast indeed.

Knowing how much I love my 1 Star, I'm afraid if I saw a 4 Star General in person I'd need a bib to catch all the drool!

Although I've never met Bob or Kerrie in person, I can tell you that just talking with them on the phone that they are great folks who really believe in their product and standing behind it.

WOW!!   :o   :o  I'm not mechanically inclined but the MAK Grills facility is state of the art and I'm impressed ...  I learned that MAK Grills comprise 30% of their business and their grill portion grew by 60% this year.  They are projecting to grow by another 30% next year.  The other 70% of their business is precision machine work for other clients.  Here's a couple of photos but click on the link below to see the machinery and tour.

Here's a link to my MAK Grills visit slideshow:  http://s854.photobucket.com/user/papa_peter/slideshow/2013%20Travel/MAK%20Grills (http://s854.photobucket.com/user/papa_peter/slideshow/2013%20Travel/MAK%20Grills)

In their lobby they have the MAK 1 Star, 4 Star, and 2 Star.  I can't wait to bring my older 2 Star up here to have it upgraded to the latest and greatest at a modest cost.

Here's the 4 Star ... Bob told me that MAK never sits on their laurels and are constantly working on enhancements and new units.  There appears to be a MAK 3 Star on the drawing board.

Is there a "Mini MAK" in your future?  I can't swear to it but I believe that MAK might be thinking of adding to their stable a tailgate version of the MAK!!!  There are no details that I know of but I for one can't wait  ;)

Yes they are Pappy!  I first met Bob and his family 3 years ago in Stockton, CA at the Way Out West Championship that they sponsored.  Visited with Matt, "M in MAK", today ... what a fine young man!

You're welcome.  Bob explained the precision work on the MAKs, the laser & computer machines, etc but I don't know enough about any of those to do them any justice.  I do remember that their precision/tolerance is less than the width of a human hair.  Maybe "M" in MAK will do it more justice  :)
