Exactly why most folks end up buying a Big Easy or SRG….So they don't have to watch William Shatner videos…. :D :D :D
Seriously - After buying TBE when they came out, I got rid of my traditional turkey fryer.

I bet SD has this spinning all the time when cooking ;D

I bought TBE for my brother when they came out. He had been frying turkeys for several years. He loves it and has never looked back. I picked up the SRG the next year and haven't used the deep fryer again.
-
I found the oiless fryers and haven't looked back either. They are good for making soups tho. Pam .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ

I do still use the propane burner with my wok - it makes a screaming hot stir fry! I also make a shore lunch of walleye in a cast iron pan on the burner. I just don't use the big pot full of oil anymore.
-
My wife bought me the pot and all for deep frying one but I have never done one, and she never lets me forget it! ;D The pot came with a basket too and I do use it for shrimp boils and have used my gas burner with cast iron skillet several times. Don

My Son's Father-in-Law fries a turkey ever year but no more ... The oil is too expensive! You can get a turkey for practically nothing with all the promotions they have these days but then you spend $35 plus for the oil :o
-
They say the oil less fryers were invented after all the rednecks burnt down their decks and back of their houses.
I think the turkey in my SRG is probably the best I have tasted. This will be the 3rd year in the SRG.

Except the fact that Ben Cartwright didn't cook anything ... it was all done by Hop Sing :D :D

I have been using my TBE for several years and love it. I also no longer have a oil turkey fryer. I don't miss the cost of the oil and the messy cleanup

I agree 110% RAD. Once I got a TBE there was absolutely no looking back. Gave my turkey fryer to my neighbor, he can invite the Fire Dept. over on Thanksgiving!

Some funny replies!!! ;D I never was a big fan of William Shatner in Star wars but like his commercials now. I watched the Cartwrights but Matt Dillon in Gunsmoke was probably my favorite. My wife would probably say I was more the Archie Bunker Type, but I am not that bad. ::) I did love his show!! When I was a kid it was Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, The Lone Ranger, Lash Larue and Zorro! I am old! Don

Don,
Thanks for reminding me how old I am, too. I remember all those oldies but goodies from my youth.

Although I have fried some turkeys in my time (messy and sometimes a little too exciting) and I also like to smoke a turkey occasionally, there's just something way, way too wonderful aroma-wise about doing it in the kitchen oven. I love to cook our Thanksgiving feast and have never found a better way to assure a great bird than the ubiquitous plastic bag, floured up a bit and with some holes punched therein. But, I'll probably add a TBE to my arsenal some day because of all the good reports I've read.
By the way . . . for those of you who are going to go the conventional deep fryer route, here's something I learned that's handy: Once the oil is "tired" (starts to smell bad after several uses) here's a great way to get rid of it! Take it to a friendly restaurant and ask them to dump it in their oil recycling container (large quantities of used oil are valuable and get recycled into lots of useful stuff).
