Title: 3 1/2 inches ib 3 1/2 hours and still snowing
Post by: nylic76 on February 12, 2014, 04:34:27 PM: This nothing for you guys from up north and the Midwest but an inch an hour is unusual for us. Predicted to change to sleet and freezing rain. Got my generator gassed up and will probably need it if it changes to ice.

I was home today because of the upcoming snow that was to hit at 3 pm. It's now 5:28 my time and 1 inch of snow fell in a little over 1 1/2 hrs Got to love the Sunny South!!!

Post by: nylic76 on February 12, 2014, 06:45:17 PM: Stopped snowing after 4+ inches, it's now sleeting/freezing rain. I'm sure there will be numerous power outages. UNC vs Duke game cancelled. Duke said they couldn't get here safely. They're only 8 miles away and it didn't start snowing until 12:45 PM today.

I've been watching the radar and this cell is stuck over us and hasn't moved for two hours. New forecast calls for this to change to rain and freezing rain until mid-afternoon. I'm thinking we'll be in the dark tonight -- old neighborhood with trees on top of the power lines. Too cold to go out and take a picture but very pretty in a dangerous sort of way.
