Title: Need to build a Tommy Shield for my SRG

Saturday I was planning on doing a couple of CSR's on the SRG for dinner, unfortunately it was the first time I'd had a high wind out of the west that kept blowing out the burner. So I'm definitely going to have to build the Tommy Shield I saw on one of the posts here. Had to punt on dinner so I cranked the oven up to 400 and used a cake pan and a cooling rack to make a roaster to keep the ribs out of the dripping grease and started them cooking. While they were cooking I made some chips with some unused sweet potato's and parsnips from another recipe and sautéed some kale to go with it. Everything turned out pretty good including the ribs, I wasn't going to bother posting this one but SWMBO'd said it was a really good looking meal and that I should take a picture and post it, so here it is.

We were calling it a Tommy Skirt but he felt the name was not "manly" enough :D

Sometimes you just got to improvise to get dinner done and that is one fine looking plate!

Great recovery and good looking dinner.

The shield I made was just cheap roof flashing you can get at Lowes

Thanks Tommy, I'll pick some up next trip to Lowes, did you mount yours permanently or only break it out on windy days?

Thanks Tommy, I'll pick some up next trip to Lowes, did you mount yours permanently or only break it out on windy days?

Mounted permanent  by using the screws that hold the legs on.  I'll try to find a good picture back soon at work

Thanks Tommy, I'm going to keep calling it a shield, just doesn't seem right to call it a skirt. ;)

Finally got time to install the Tommy Shield on my SRG, no more propping a box next to it when it's windy. I had some self taping screws from a trailer repair job that were easier to use than taking out the leg screws and lining everything up to drill and mount.

I made a cutout to get to the drip tray using tin snips and some welding pliers to bend a safe edge.

Thanks for the idea Tommy and if they keep insisting it's a skirt tell them it's a Kilt. ;)

Looks good.  Kilt, skirt or shield call it what you want it works
