Title: I managed to catch my SRG on fire
Post by: cyberb0b on May 04, 2014, 03:45:50 PM
Some fatty burgers + smoldering wood pellets and a windy around the tommy ring let to an uncontrollable fire erupting from the SRG. The pressure got so high it blew the lid off and slung the logo against my house. No way to extinguish it, other than to let it burn. My fire extinguisher failed to work. The fire never got out of the SRG, so that's good.

Fat/Oil and smoking wood Do Not Mix!   Any oil-type fire is dangerous! Be prepared, a scare like this should make you think of how to improve matters next time. Very glad damage was minimal and nobody was hurt!

Would have made a heck of a YouTube!  Glad everyone is okay, and that no damage occurred other than the SRG itself

He could have sent the burned burgers to you for Kimmie that way there's no waste and you get brownie points.

What's funny is that the fire didn't start until AFTER I was done and had shut off the gas. I was inside prepping the rest of the meal when I heard the lid blow off. I came out and immediately disconnected the propane tank, relocated it, and tried to put out the fire.
