After 35 years, I tried retirement.  I still have one daughter in college so this is my take on working vs retirement:

1) When I was working I had money to do the things that I wanted, but due to overtime had no time to do them. Wife & kids had a grand time helping me spend the money though.

2) When I was retired, I had all the time in the world, but being on a fixed income I was reluctant to spend the money (less of it and still had that daughter in college).

So...... I went back to work and I'm working on that 2nd pension.  35 years at one government job, and now I'm 2 years into the next one.  Figure I will work until I can at least file for social security (assuming it still exists then).  I do have another retirement supplement from the State that kicks in in 3 years and I may reevaluate my decision then  ;)
