Good friend of mine is a retired Paducah Police Detective, certified Glock instructor, KY certified CCW instructor and has attended the FBI firearms academy many times. When I considered obtaining a concealed weapon I went to him for his advice. Eventually the topic turned to holsters. I inquired about an IWB holster as well as any holster that was held to the waistband by clips. He was very quick to tell me that an IWB is very uncomfortable to wear for a lengthy period of time and also that he would never carry any holster that was held by clips to the waistband, inside or out. He gave me an example of why. The Chief of PPD, a fellow detective and he were at the FBI firearms academy and on the shooting line. The instructor told them that the next exercise would be to draw the weapon from the holster and fire down range as quickly as possible. The instructor gave the command to fire. When everyone was finished and the weapons were cleared and holstered, the instructor said "rather than to point fingers at anyone, just go retrieve your holster". The Chief of PPD sheepishly walked out on the firing range and picked up his holster. Seems he had been wearing a clipped on holster and when he drew his weapon to fire the holster came with the weapon and wound up being slung down range.
Just food for thought. One more thing, whether or not I obtained a concealed carry weapon is none of your business.
