Sorry to here about your issue, I clean my Mini every cook or every other cook depending how long and what I was cooking. If I'm doing low and slow for a bunch of cooks with no high heat, I will do A high heat cook with nothing on the grill just to burn off the grease same as you would with a gas grill or a Kamado grill.  Buy yourself a shop vac for cleaning and heat on high 350 to 400 after greasy cooks  :) Hope this helps...

I will always vacuum out the fire-pot right before my next cook. Always be sure your fire-pot has cooled down though....that is why I wait to do it before the next cook.

Because the smaller pellet cookers have smaller volume for ash accumulation - a quick vacuuming before each cook is easy insurance.

You can even get a wet/dry vac head and hose that fits on a 5 gallon bucket from Lowe's for about $20. Be sure to put the fine paper filter on it before you vacuum ash - or you will think that you are standing over a volcano when it belches the ash cloud in your face ;D
