Well, first off, the young lady does not appear to be old enough to play with matches but that does look like a nice set-up. My only issue is the greasy water that needs to be disposed of after every cook................

Looks like a winner to me............

Makes sense.  One more way to use your Weber.  I have too many other options to want to add this one, however.

Tommy, that's just an upgrade to the trick that Sparky taught me years ago.  I use the Charcoal Ring for a WSM 18.5" in the same way (or a WSM 22.5 ring for my 26er).  I guess if I wanted I could fill my drip pan (one of those disposable half-pans) with water to simulate the WSM water pan.  I just don't have the cool deflector.

Here you can kind of see how it works with a set of Dino Bones:

It is a neat idea, couldn't find a price on it though.

I have used my 18" charcoal ring in my 22 like Big Dawg. I have also used my vortex (large side up) with a small pie pan of water in the middle when I was doing the snake method.  I don't do either now since I have the Slow n Sear. It does what I need and I don't have to rotate the food like I had to with the snake method. I can't find anything other than videos on this appliance.

Interesting!  Looks like it would work well. But I'm with Mike, I think the SnS is the way to go. If I had a 22" kettle I would have to have a SnS!
