Grill covers yay or nay
« Reply #-1 on: May 05, 2018, 03:25:03 PM »
I usually drag my Webber gas, or pit barrel cooker or Weber q out of garage whenever I want to use it. Than I drag it back in. Being I got 3 kids and a wife that love to accumulate stuff it's starting to be a pain in the butt because the garage is loaded . I have a Weber kettle that I leave outside all day everyday day and it Dosent seem to mind lol. So the grill I use the most is the Webber gas. It was an expensive grill so I don't want it to get ruined. If I leave it ouside should I cover it ? It's very humid here in the summer months. I wonder if covered with the high humidity would be bad. If I leave it uncovered is it going to rust or just sun fade ? What do you guys do ? And what do you recommend I do ?

I live in northern Illinois where the temperature ranges go from below zero to 100+, sometimes in the same week.  I leave my MAK 2 Star covered on my deck all year long along with my gas grill, also covered.  Both do not seem to suffer from the adverse conditions.  If I were you, I'd get a good cover and leave it outside.

I have a char broil 3 burner stainless gasser. It is the only pit I have that ever rusted. Reason I left it covered one summer when it rained about 12 inches one June. It was on under the patio very wet and humid. The cover held the moisture and result some rust pitting.

I did the same with my charbroil gasser! Way too humid here in SE Georgia and the bugs love to nest inside the covers.

I have always kept my cookers covered. Right now I have a Weber Performer, a Camp Chef 2 burner stove and a Big Easy out back. They all kept covered when they cool down.

Every cooker I own has at least one cover on it.
On some I even cover the cover. And mine are all on an outside deck under a roof.  :D :D :D

My traeger Texas cover is a nicely crafted cover.

Problem is it’s not very functional.

Cold weather makes it very brittle and subject to cracking and tearing.
