Faux outdoor kitchen
« Reply #-1 on: March 16, 2013, 05:51:55 PM »
This is an old picture, but gives an idea of my outdoor cooking area.

Then I see this at Costco today.

I've got an email into the manufacturer, but any thoughts on using this as an outdoor storage* and prep area?  It's stainless, maybe cover it with a tarp in the winter.  I'm almost inclined to replace the wood counter with a piece of scrap granite for more of a kitchen look.

Any thoughts/feedback would be appreciated, I like to sit on decisions like this for a few days at least.

I like that idea. Makes sense to me. I have their 8 foot workbench in my garage. good quality. Wouldn't be totally practical for me in Minnesota. But a counter by my grills would be a dream.....and. Great place to keep "stuff"

Just get a couple of coats of a good marine grade spar varnish on that wood and it will hold up fine.

Man - I love the look of that cabinet.  would seal the wood like Ken recommended but I would want to put a granite-tile top on it more for looks, and ease of cleaning.

I might want to sneak on of those in here! ;)

$499 which I think is a steal.

Thanks for the encouragement guys, and great idea on the marine varnish idea.

Birthday is in 45 days.  Could be good timing.

I like it..but have a question? Is the top butcher block, can't tell from the pic. I would keep part of it if it is butcher block or clad the entire top in stainless. Great cabinet.  Pam .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.
