Cowtown boots

Who around here wears cowboy boots?

Who around here wishes they could afford alligator or crocodile boots?

Who around here would not even think of spending the 700.00-1000 dollar price tag.

Well, Old Smoke has got you covered.

i used to sell boots back in the 80's, i worked with Charlie Daniels original drummer and a couple of ex rodeo cowboys. I sold Nocona boots when they were still owned by Mr. Justins ex-wife. I have sold Tony Lamas from El Paso and Dan Post boots made in their factory in Spain...Hey, i know about boots. I used to size people using the Luchesse method...I know western footwear.

these prices are not mis-prints and the fit and finish and quality are top notch...hand made in El Paso Texas direct from the factory..I have still can' believe these deals...handmade croc or gator at the price just slightly higher than cow-hide..outrageous.....

You're welcome  because you will be thanking me  8)   http://cowtownboots.com/Alligator-Crocodile-Cowboy-Boots/29

We don't do shi$ kickers in Minnesota ;)

Our Scandinavian heritage didn't like those slippery bottoms.

Smoke, Those are the best prices I've ever seen on quality boots and exotic shoes. How do you go about doing the correct job of measuring your feet for cowboy boots?  My experience is they are a little more difficult to fit than shoes. Dee

Good call Dee on sizing. Your boot size might not be the same as your shoe size and a poorly fitted pair of boots will make you pray for a chair.

Your best bet is to go to a western wear store and ask to be fitted. Pay careful attention to your size and width. Ask the clerk to write down the size and width for you...then...act interested and try on some boots in the size he measured you in. Walk around in em a bit in the store. When you are confident they feel comfortable (you can always ask to be resized because they want to sell you a pair) tell em ya are gonna sleep on it..or you gotta check with your wife.....then go home and save a ton of money at Cowtown boots  ;D

A good fitting pair of boots will be snug in the instep, basically the widest part of the boot will match the widest part of your foot. There will be slippage in the heel when the boots are new. When the heel breaks in that will not be as noticeable but there should always be some slight slippage......then go find yourself a good Honkey Tonk to show em off  :)

and when you get your new boots..try them on and walk on carpet. If you have to return them if there is one little mark on the soles you will own them....now once you are sure you are keeping them..go outside and get the bottoms scuffed up because they will be a little slick on carpet and ya don't want to tumble.

During the Urban Cowboy craze we selling boots to people that never worn a pair in their life and I just knew that over half of them were coming back because they were not comfortable and they wanted to go back to wearing sneakers. Many were worn a bit and they were stuck with em.........

Thanks for the heads up Smoke!

M.L. Leddy used to make boots for me and my family. He has been gone a long time tho....I was thinking about going thru Abilene ( where I was born and still have some family) and see if I could get fitted for another pair or 2.

I just gave my Dad a pair of ELephant hide boots that I could not wear out - resoled them 3 times, and finally my foot size changed so they were not comfy any more.

Smoke,  I've got a pair of pythons I bought in Juarez about 23 years ago.  They held up pretty well.  I have not worn them in years because I had put on so much weight.  Maybe now that I've lost so much I could wear them again. The cheapest I've seen alligator loafers is around $700-750 wholesale.  They usually run about  $1500.  They are much cheaper at Cowtown.  Probably good thing I don't live close to El Paso.  Dee

I have a pair of Justin Ropers that is the most comfortable footwear I own. They are just old leather boots but I love em.

The Roper (wellington) style is a classic style and comfortable because of the wider shape of the foot. I am surprised you had a pair of pythons last so long Dee. Usually the membrane drys out and the scales fall off and the foot cracks.

I still wear J toes (pointy) but the CowTown J is slightly rounded and looks nice. I have gone from a D (regular) width to an extra wide for a bit more room.

Give Nocona and Justin and Tony Lamas the hairy eyeball these days. They are owned by Berkshire Hathaway now and they are not what they used to be. Same as Dan Post. Their main headquarters are in Tennessee but the boots are made down in Mexico now instead of El Paso. A real nice boot is Double H. They offer some Mexican and USA made offerings and are solid, especially with the Oak outsole.

I have two pairs of Cowtown Boots that I am bringing to a guy tomorrow. one pair is cognac crocodile and the other is a rust hornback alligator. Both pairs cost him 580.00 including shipping and no Cali sales tax.

One pair from another outfit would cost 300.00 bucks more alone and these boots are beautiful. All the stitching lines up and they use a nice soft leather inside the leg so your legs wont get chafed. Nice leg design and inlays and the heels are mounted properly. I am not sure on the last but I can see wooden pegs were used along with brass nails so I know this outfit knows what is doing....made in Texas, USA  :)

I wore boots to work several times a week for years.  Back when I wore them, except for a pair of ropers, the only last that fit my foot was Dan Post so I probably saved a ton of money because I couldn't wear those expensive Lucchese's, Lama's and the like.  I did have some good Dan Post calf and exotics though.  Gave my last two pair away about 3 months ago since they were all too small for my older feet.

Anyway, if the quality is as smoke indicates, the prices on the Cowtown's are unreal.  Too bad (or maybe it's good) I'm not in the market anymore.

Turtle, I remember my Mama taking me into Kings Western Wear in the Valley in the early '70s (I ended up working there later). Mr. King had the boots lined up on the wall from lowest to highest price. Of course I go to the expensive side and was looking at a pair of Dan Post boots that were 99.00   Mr.King walked up and put his hand on my shoulder and said "Son, those are Dan Post boots. The very best boot made in the world. You are not ready for these yet. Lets go down to the other side shall we?"

I ended up with a pair of Acme's for 12.00...leather foot and leather upper.......man have times changed................
