Sous Vide - is this a good deal

I'm intrigued with Sous Vide.  What are the advantages?  How would I use?

Being that this is a total unknown to me - would this be a good one to consider?

I will offer a desenting opinion. I own the Annova and the Dork Foods DSV.

Buy the DSV. Why?  Because I will bet that you have a regular crock pot and you may own a turkey roaster.  The DSV is universal and you can use it to control either . And it stores inside my 30 dollar crock pot......
The Annoys required a minimum depth of water. It has moving parts. And while I use it rarely...the truth is that the DSV gets used do look much more often because of the simplicity of not needing a taller water column.

Thanks all. I took the plunge (yes, pun intended) and ordered the Anova.

Tee, appreciate the contrarian advice. Makes sense and some good points.  Unfortunately already pulled the trigger but I think for me I made the right decision. Or I'll be explaining to my wife why I need to buy a DSV.   ???

I guess I need to start doing some searches for recipes.

No wrong decisions...Heck I own both of them.....And you may gain permission to get another once the Mrs. tastes just how good foods can be when sous vide is utilised as part of the equation.

And they are especially good when cooking old...tough.... cheap cuts ...such as TURTLE.... :D

$140. I was tempted to spend the $60 more and go with the wifi version - I'm a sucker for tech. But decided to save the $$ for grill grates.
