Hey, Arrow, how do you like your CB740X? Is it similar to the 940? I've been on the edge of buying the 940, but never pulled the trigger. Don't think they make them anymore. Below photo is that chuck roast from the CB500X.  :P  OD

If you can find a CB-940 for $299 buy it! ( smoke might sell his)
It has a design flaw that DOES NOT AFFECT HOW IT COOKS.
It was made to allow airflow from the back bottom passing over the coals then exiting from the front of the grill threw a 1/4-1/3 in gap in the lid.
Problem is the smoke clouds up the thermometer every 1 to 2 cooks & you havetoget thre windex out.
Still grills & smokes great ( 740 has same setup)
If you can find one let me know & I'll get you links to buy firebricks & heat shield for 10 hour fuseburn cooks.

Ouch! To get that $299 940X to my door, ends up being over $540, which is more than an Amazon free shipping price of about $525. My bride would kill me, if that thing showed up on her porch!  :o She isn't going to be happy when that $325 barrel, Social was howling about, comes in next week!  :-[

Got it in today. What's your sea level time on Louies? Do you actually pour that black gold derivative on your start ups? I haven't used Kingsford in five years! Ever use lump? Thousands of questions, not much manual to consult!  ???

Go to the Pit Barrel website Art and follow the videos. You can also call them at any time with questions.
Use original Kingsford.
Take out the charcoal basket and fill it to the top.
Sprinkle lighter fluid all over it.
Set the charcoal basket back into the barrel.
Fire it up!!
In exactly 20 minutes you are ready to cook.
Do not adjust the bottom damper
Even if you use the cooking grate, insert the rebar back in...the barrel works the best with the re-bar in
You can slip a meat probe through the re-bar hole and your thermo can rest on one of the horse-shoe side handles.
It is that easy..no monitoring pit temps..no tweaking....just cooking in a grease fog!!!
