Blues BBQ & Beer ***updated***
« Reply #-1 on: August 19, 2016, 06:23:46 PM »
An area musician opened up a BBQ Smokehouse recently called Haze. We are meeting friends there in a little while to hear a personal favorite musician play this evening. He's a World-class guitar player.
Chris Duarte is his name. He very well may be the best guitar player you never heard of. In 1994 Guitar Player magazine ranked him as the 4th best blues guitarist just behind Clapton, Buddy Guy and B.B. King. Quite good company. Anyway a night of music, friends, bbq and cocktails! I hope to report back later.....

Sorry.....I posted a report with a pic and just the pic got loaded! >:(

The bbq restaurant/venue were great! Food was excellent on all accounts. Mrs H had the Blues sandwich,  1/3 lb angus burger with grilled onion,  blue cheese,  and several bacon slices piled high on top. I tasted it...was great. I went to the heart of the matter and tried their brisket sandwich with home baked bun.....fabulous!  Certainly among the best I've ever had. The owner makes his own rubs and sauces and does a nice job on all I tried. We will get back soon and do a review of this place, Haze.
As for the show, my 4th time seeing Chris Duarte in a 26 year span and he keeps getting better like fine wine! Chris Duarte is the hardest working man in show business! He played two sets of hard driving blues with many solos, took a 15 minute break and played another two hours as if he was possessed! I've been fortunate to have seen Clapton, B.B., Jeff Beck, Santana, Steve Miller, Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray, Jimmy Page, and many more. Chris Duarte deserves a seat at the big boy table as his talent is every bit as good as those icons. What a show! I urge you, if you like blues, especially blues guitar, see this guy if he's in your area. You will be in awe ...guaranteed!
The venue is outside on a patio that seats 120 people with 5 per table and plenty of space! Rare in this type of patio entertainment.

Bringing back some good memories.  I was a Chris Duarte fan when he first came on the scene back in the 90's.  Saw him live in Dayton Ohio on Thursday Sept. 5, 1996 at McGuffey's House of Draft.  Not that I remembered the date, but your post made me go to the back closet where I have my CD library and look for the CD which I haven't played in well over 12 years.  Listening to it now, good music.
Haven't kept up with music much lately, I'll be checking youtube to see what he's been up to.
Thanks for the memory boost!  8) 8)

Thank you for bringing Chris into my world.  He can of reminds me of Johnny Lang, so much talent, but never seemed to crack into the mainstream.
