Finally smoked the cheese with some apple pellets. Pictures kinda tell the story :)

Moved the pellets to the bottom of the grill once they got to smokin.

Put the cheese on to let the apple smoke roll.....

After 1 hour, still smokin away...

Never got above 68° F, that stays cooler than my Bradley smoker.

After 2 hours of smoke I took it out and packaged it up for a 1 month wait until tasting ??? it really did not take on much color but sure did smell like an ashtray ;)

Thanks for lookin!!

Stupid question...  :P

I just recieved my Amazen Smoker (tube) and would love to cold smoke some cheese (salt, and other "stuff.) I am thinking of using my CB 500x as a "vessel" with the Amazen generating the smoke. Is there a temp that is TOO cold to do this? My 500X is on the deck - day time temps are in the 20's - 30's right now. If I use the Amazen to generate smoke with no additonal heat - will it work at these temps?

Thanks!

David

Nice looking smoked cheese.

@ drholly

Your outside temps are great for cold smoking. Just use the AMZNS and no other heat source.

David..that is the perfect temp right now..it won't freeze and it won't get too hot.  Fill that puppy up with stuff.  Just be sure and dry it off with a paper towel before vac'ing. Just lay it on the paper towel, then seal. Good luck..it's easier than you think. Pam .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.

Those are good pellets.  I used to order them all the time from a Pellet joint out there that has since folded.   :(
