Need Some Help Please
« Reply #-1 on: April 01, 2013, 03:02:51 PM »
I not very eeeelectronic savvy.

Gotta test the probe on my PID. Suyi says it should be 5 kohm on my old probe and new prob.

How the heck do i use this thing?

This is what i got from Auber.

It is very simple. Just measure the resistance of the sensor at the headphone plug. There are two versons. One should read 5 kohm, and other should read 50 kohm (both at room temperature). The new one should read 50 kohm.  If it does not, the sensor is defective. If your old one read 5 kohm, we sent the wrong probe.

You should be able to check both probes where you have it set now at 200k. If the temp probe has a headphone type jack just make sure each of your test probes on on opposite side of the blck band on the plug of the temp probe

What Keymaster said, except it's possible you may have to drop down to the 20K setting to be in the proper range to test the 5 Kohm temp probe.

Ok here is what i got on the 200k. And having the one on opposite side of the black band.

Old probe is left reading 40.8

New reading 00.1?

My old probe still works but when i plug the new into my PID i get 3 red lines and a constant beep tone.

Appears the new one is defective. Dang it, 1 out of a 1000 you gotta buy a scratch ticket now. If you can unscrew the casing on the new one see if any stray wires are touching the metal housing inside.
