I did a run on Sunday
« Reply #-1 on: February 18, 2014, 09:37:48 AM »
So as the subject line states I did a run on Sunday.

http://ultrasignup.com/register.aspx?did=24151

The Bandit Ultra Trail run in Simi Valley. Now my boss who is new to running decided to do this run and asked me to run it with him. I have never done a trail run but figured it might be some hills and on dirt. He opted for the 6K. So I signed up for the 6K. I tried talking him into doing the 15K but he refused. There was also a 30K and 50K!

Well I am glad I only did the 6K. This run kicked my arse! But how can you call it a run when you are practically going straight up a dirt bike trail over small boulders. The first two miles was straight up a hill!

Well I finished it in 28th place with a time of 55:39. I finished 6th place in my age group of 30-39. And there was a total of 66 runners. The top finisher did it in 34:06 and he was 14 years old!

I think I did really good for my first trail run. I always run flat with small hills on pavement. This is a totally different animal. My boss finished in 1 hour and 16 minutes and placed 61st. Not bad for only having been running for several months.

Great job Mike!  Being someone who used to love running and backpacking, I know how butt-kicking some of those trails can be.

Man I wish I still could run and get out in the woods to hike.  Back in my younger days I could have stayed up with you but not anymore.. With bad knees it just doesn't look like I'm going to anytime soon

Good Time on the trail.  Those trails are a lot different than the roads.  Same thing for biking.      I hope to be running again by summer.  Waiting on the pettellar tendonitis to heal more.

Way to go Mike!!  I can only dream of doing that sometime.  With my back issues, walking, much less running is problematic.  I am hoping to get my bike out again and put some miles on it.  That actually helps my lower back.

Keep posting your running results.  I'll b e your "East Coast co-pilot in spirit".
